The best Core i7 laptops for Windows 2023

Intel Core i7 processors are some of the best CPU for laptops because they have a great balance between performance, cooling, and price. They're better than Core i3 and Core i5 chips, but they're cheaper and don't get as hot as Core i9 chips. Because of this, the chips have become very popular.

This wide availability is great because it makes it easy to get your hands on a Core i7 machine, but there are so many good options that it can be hard to know which laptop to get. If you need the latest generation of Intel chips, we recommend the company's 12th Gen Core i7 processor, which will give you great performance and a long battery life. But if you're on a tight budget, you can still get great results from an 11th Gen processor that is a little older. We think the Dell XPS 13 Plus is the best Core i7 Windows laptop because it has great specs, a great screen, long battery life, and a great design. However, there are a lot of other great options as well.

Dell XPS 13 Plus

People have thought that Dell's traditional XPS 13 was the best Ultrabook on the market for a few years, but the new Dell XPS 13 Plus might be even better. The XPS 13 Plus is at the top of the Core i7 hill because it has great specs, a great new chassis design, and the same great screen that people love on the regular XPS 13.

The powerful 12th Gen i7-1270P and i7-1280P CPUs are available here. Other than the power-hungry H-Series chips, which are usually only found in workstations and gaming laptops, these are Intel's most powerful laptop CPUs on the market. You also get the great Xe graphics from Intel, as well as up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage. You also get Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and you can choose between an FHD screen, a 3.5K screen, or a 4K UHD screen that will blow your mind. Each screen has a maximum brightness of 500 nits, a coating that prevents glare, and a wide range of colours. People who want to get the most out of their battery life should choose FHD, while people who want the best picture quality should choose 3.5K or 4K UHD. The battery life isn't as long as it is on some other devices. With one of the higher resolution options, you'll get between 5 and 8 hours (expect more with the FHD screen).
Dell XPS 13 (9315)

The classic Dell XPS 13 is the best example of a traditional laptop. It has some of the best Ultrabook-class specs and a design that is the best in the business. You can set it up with the great Intel Core i7-1250U, which is one of the best 12th Gen Mobile CPUs from Intel. The device also has Intel's impressive Xe graphics, up to 32GB of memory, and up to 1TB of SSD storage. It also has a slot for a microSD card. The display on the Dell XPS 13 is also a head-turner. It has great colour accuracy, a maximum brightness of up to 500 nits, a very effective anti-reflective coating, and options for HD, 3.5K, and 4K UHD resolutions. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and a battery that can last up to 14 hours are some of the other features.

The Dell XPS 13 is well-designed in that it has a comfortable keyboard with bright backlighting and a high-quality trackpad that doesn't wobble or feel loose like many cheap laptops do. The device also has two Thunderbolt 4 ports for strong connectivity with other devices, and Dell includes a USB-C to USB-A adapter in case you ever need to connect a USB-A device. The device is expensive, and the webcam isn't great, but all in all, the Dell XPS 13 is a great laptop that we highly recommend if you don't like the bold new look of the Dell XPS 13 Plus.
Surface Pro 9 (Intel)

With a built-in kickstand, an all-metal body, and a sleek and slim design, the Microsoft Surface Pro line is one of the best for people who want a tablet-first experience. If you want to buy a Surface Pro 9 this year, you should pay close attention to the fact that Microsoft has put processors from both Intel and Qualcomm, which are based on Arm, in the same family. Even though the newer Arm models come with built-in 5G connectivity if you pay for a data plan, the tried-and-true Intel model still gives most Windows users the best experience because it works with more apps and is more reliable.

Unlike some of the other laptops on our list, the Surface Pro 9 won't be cheap if you buy the optional keyboard cover and pen, both of which are needed if you want to use the device to work or take digital notes. The tablet itself starts at $1,399 for the Intel Core i7 build, which includes an i7-1255U processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16GB of RAM, and a 256GB solid-state drive. The device is built on and approved for Intel's Evo platform, which promises long battery life and steady performance. At the highest level, you can get a build with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of solid-state storage.
